Business Issues
- A Fortune 500 company with over a thousand in-house IT staff was tasked with enhancing an existing application. The roll-out was to be within 12 weeks, rescheduling was not an option.
- The application was business-critical as it implemented certain federal regulations which were time-bound by law
- Customer had limited development resources and even fewer had previously worked on this application
Approach
- eMids’ onsite team rapidly studied the existing application and the enhancement requirements
- Based on the analysis, a project team was established with 30-70 split between onsite and offshore
- eMids onsite Project Manager worked in close contact with the customer’s IT Development Manager and customer’s business project manager to detail and negotiate the requirements and obtain formal sign off
- eMids’ business analysts understood the requirements and created detailed test plans and cases
- eMids team developed the application along with the customer’s development team. Code merge and integration testing was performed frequently.
- Due to the tight timelines, daily status reports were circulated to all stake holders by the eMids project manager
Result
- The application was delivered to production one week ahead of schedule
- No defects were reported in production.
- Later feedback indicated a 93% acceptance level by end users
